I’m Mekdes, a barista and front-of-house professional based in London. Over the past three years I have worked across cafés, restaurants, a fitness studio and a property staging business in London and Canada. I’m currently at Whiskers & Cream, where I rotate between the bar, the floor and the kitchen depending on what the day needs.
Coffee is the part of the job I take the most pride in. I dial in the espresso machine each morning and keep adjusting it through the day so every shot stays consistent. Before Whiskers & Cream I spent a year and a half with Blank Street Coffee, working across several London stores and representing the brand at events including London Fashion Week.
I’m just as comfortable on a front desk. At SoulCycle Soho I ran check-in across high-demand classes, handled member enquiries by phone and email and looked after the day-to-day admin. Wherever I have worked I have been the first person customers deal with, and I have learned to stay organised and calm when it gets busy, to pick up new systems quickly and to build the kind of rapport that brings people back.
Bar, floor and kitchen in a small café team. I dial in the espresso machine at open, prepare and plate menu items to spec, take bookings and orders, and run the till and front desk on my own during service.
High-quality coffee at speed in a fast-paced, brand-led environment across several London stores. Opening and closing procedures, tills and workspace standards, plus representing the brand at events including London Fashion Week.
Ran front-of-house across high-demand classes: rider check-in, class capacity, member enquiries by phone and email and day-to-day admin. Supported events with influencers and fitness and cosmetic brands, including guest lists and arrivals.
Fast, friendly service in a high-volume restaurant, coordinating with the kitchen on timings and orders and helping with opening and closing.
Sourced and styled décor to present properties ahead of viewings and planned and ran housewarming events across six properties as part of the sales process.
Handled the till and daily transactions accurately, kept display areas stocked and presentable, and built a regular customer base through personalised service.
Education: High School Diploma with honours, Bonar Law Memorial, Class of 2022.
Barista, front-of-house and reception experience on one page ★
From the store manager and shift lead I worked with at Blank Street Coffee, 2024–2026.
I have worked closely with Mekky for the past two years at Blank Street and from the very beginning, I have admired her work ethic and natural ability to connect with the people around her. Within her first month, she was recognised as Most Valued Barista by both managers and shift leads … She is someone who is proactive, always eager to contribute and help those around her. She has represented Blank Street not only as an all rounder barista, but also at Fashion Week and as a bar manager at the latest Spring Activation. Her bright energy is contagious and she brings it to every team she works in. You can rely on her without having to ask, whether you need a hand during a busy rush, or to get strawberry jam from another store, she is always one step ahead.
Honestly, having Mekky in the team has been such a positive experience. She brings really good energy into the workplace, connects naturally with people, and genuinely cares about doing a good job. She’s someone you can rely on, and she always brings warmth and positivity into the shift. You can tell she puts her heart into what she does, and I truly think she’ll do amazing wherever she goes next.
Trained to dial in espresso — grind size, dose and yield — and keep shots consistent through a busy day, with speed and presentation to match.
Naturally outgoing. I create warm, memorable interactions that make people feel genuinely welcomed and want to come back.
A confident first point of contact: greeting visitors, managing check-ins, bookings and queues, and keeping the front desk calm when it is busy.
Correspondence, bookings, records and opening and closing checklists handled accurately and on time, by phone, email and in person.
I juggle multiple priorities while keeping accuracy, presentation and customer experience at a consistently high standard.
I pick up new systems fast — POS, booking and check-in tools, tablets — and step in wherever the team is short.
I’m happy to come in for a trial shift or an interview at a time that suits you.
